CHARACTER;
Name: Yuuki Konno
Age: 15
Canon: Sword Art Online
Canon Point: End of Mother’s Rosario
History: SWORD ART ONLINE SPOILERS
Appearance: In the front! It probably looks more or less the same albeit with the addition of some wave patterns on her clothing. If she isn’t allowed to keep her pointed ears, they’ll be rounded as well.
Personality: If you asked someone to describe Yuuki, it would sound like they were describing an almost perfect being. She’s the Absolute Sword, a powerful player in ALO who has never been defeated in battle and boasts an amazing Original Sword Skill. Despite the many hardships she’s endured, she always smiles brightly and never complains, pushing ahead and doing her very best, reassuring everyone that she’s doing well even when she’s suffering so much.
This isn’t entirely untrue. But it also is by no means entirely true, either.
Yuuki Konno is someone who grew up cursing her fate. Although she lives vigorously, she admits herself that as a child, she questioned why she and her family suffered the way they did. Being Christian, her mother would always pray to God about their troubles, something Yuuki originally felt annoyance at. It wasn’t until later in her life that she realized her mother was praying for the sake of Yuuki and her sister – it was a way of showing her love for her daughters. Indeed, the circumstances of her illness and family situation have forced her to become very wise at a young age. She’s been through a lot, and as a result she’s come to unique conclusions on how to live her life.
The most obvious one is her cheery demeanor. Although it started off as an act she put on for her parents’ sake, she later came to the realization that being upset and depressed with her situation for all of what little time she had left was counterproductive. So with that in mind, she decided to present herself as strong and energetic without caring too much for what others thought of her. This most obviously plays into her actions when she advises Asuna on a tough situation involving other players who blocked the way between her group and the boss they intended to take down: sometimes, things must be dealt with forcefully. And indeed, that’s exactly what they did to push through.
However, even though she may present herself as strong, in truth she has her moments of weakness – moments she is painfully aware of. All of the deaths in her family on top of her own illness have taken their toll on her, and though the scars have mostly scabbed over, certain events can certainly tear them open all over again. When she grew too attached to Asuna and mistakenly referred to Asuna as though she were talking to her deceased sister, she proceeded to vanish from the game entirely. It tends to be very specific things that trigger it, but she can have a hard time dealing with emotional distress in a calm and collected manner and often has to look to others who can for aid, assuming she doesn’t try to run from the situation in its entirety. Trying to get painful details out of her can be difficult if not impossible without a lot of persistence.
Still, when all is said and done, she’s a bright kid with a forceful personality and maybe just a little mischievous. She’s incredibly well-adjusted to MMO life, given that she’s spent the past three years of her life continuously hooked up to virtual reality, and her charisma is such that she can get along with people very quickly, even if it starts off with her dragging someone completely new into various shenanigans. She’s got a surprising amount of interest in mundane life (school, reality in general) since she’s been cut off from it for so long, but she’s also accepted the realities she now lives in and makes the best of them.
…Or did, anyway.
Race: Human
Class: Twin Blade
Abilities:
Keeping in mind that she is using her ALO avatar with its game abilities…
Personal:
-Reaction speed; it’s so inhumanly fast, it may as well qualify. Where many people would take a hit because they don’t have time to block or dodge, Yuuki generally has the speed to manage those actions due to being more than likely the fastest character in ALO.
-Mother’s Rosario; an 11 hit 1-handed sword skill that she created herself. Doesn’t work unless she’s got a single blade, however.
Racial:
-Flight; a power granted to all Player Characters in Alfheim Online, as they are all fairies. Her wings are a semi-transparent black and bat-like, although she can also hide them when they are not in use. Notably, she can fly using manual controls (that is, “feeling” and using her wings instead of using a joystick that appears for less skilled players.)
-Underground Flight; a specialty of those who chose the Imp race for their characters. Where most players can only fly where there is light, Imps continue to have some flight ability even underground. Translates as limited flight in dungeon areas.
-Wall Run; an ability of lightweight classes that allows them to run at such a speed, they are able to run on walls. The normal limit is 10 meters, but with Yuuki’s speed it’s probably closer to 30 meters before she drops.
-Night Vision; allows for sight even in near total darkness.
Items: A full set of Legendary level gear, none of which is named.
Other: All of her previously used equipment will be for the sole sake of “masking” her equipment in the World since we don’t ever get any stats or details on the items aside from more or less “really powerful, top-tier player equipment suitable for a boss raid.”
SAMPLES;
First Person: Sample 1 | Sample 2
Third Person: ”Bye-bye!” She called out the words enthusiastically while she waved, the players she’d teamed up with until that point vanishing before her very eyes. It was a sight she’d gotten used to in the few days she’d spent in The World, and one that never really struck her as all that odd.
After all, this wasn’t the first time she was fully immersed when others were not.
Still, in those days she could have logged out too, but The World was a bit trickier in that department. Placing her hands on her hips, she let her gaze slide over Mac Anu. “So-! Where should I sleep tonight?”
It was probably the toughest part of this new lifestyle to adjust to, but somehow or another, she managed. Having no way to log out on top of no guild to give her a room, she had no other option but to stay on the streets. It wasn’t the best situation, but she had found that even when she considered joining a guild to get a roof over her head for these times, it left a bad taste in her mouth. Somehow, it felt a bit like betraying the precious memories she had made in her previous guild, and she couldn’t stand the thought for more than a few minutes.
Thus, the street it was.
Ignoring the looks she was getting, she strode over to a shaded corner and sat herself down, leaning her head against an adjacent building. As always, people began to stare; her movements were always a touch more lifelike than most, and more than once had she been questioned on which command she used to make her character move that way. But that, too, was something she simply had to put up with.
With a quiet yawn, she began to murmur her nightly prayer to herself, keeping her words low enough that the other players weren’t likely to hear. “…until our death. Amen.”
